We hope you have created many long-lasting memories riding your Awake Board(s)! As the season is coming to an end for some, we would like to remind you about correctly storing your Awake FLEX battery.
* If your BP is above 80% charge before storage, there is no need to discharge.
As with all lithium-ion batteries, the battery cells deplete over time, regardless of use. When you don’t use your Awake FLEX battery for a longer period (60 days), make sure you check the charge level, and top it up if necessary.
Note: Over-discharged batteries shut down by default, and a replacement or repair will be necessary. The replacement and/or repair is not covered by warranty.
Please check out section 4, “Transport and Storage” in the user manual for further information and instructions.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your nearest Awake Service Center or email support@awakeboards.com.

In the early days of Awake, a dream quickly grew, to one day cross the Öresund strait on an Awake board. Five years later that dream came true.
With the 35 km range of the VINGA eFoil the 27,5 km/17,1 miles journey from Sweden to Denmark was finished with battery life to spare. The ride started in Malmö went along the iconic Öresund bridge and ended in Copenhagen with a total duration of 1 hour and 10 minutes.
"Ever since our first offices in Malmö I've always been dreaming about crossing Öresund on our boards, now with the VINGA it was finally realized. The forecast looked almost perfect but we still ran into some issues with seaweed and currents forcing us to do some extra stops on the way. Luckily the range of the batteries was still more than enough. It was surely an overwhelming feeling being in the middle of the sea with kilometers to land in both ways and seeing the impressive Öresund bridge high above us. So proud of this machine we have created, the Awake VINGA is nothing short of amazing."
- Philip Werner, Founder & Chief Innovator
When the two riders touched down in Copenhagen, the world's first crossing of Öresund on an electric personal watercraft was made. All done on one battery with power to spare.
Technical info:
The crossing was made possible with two vital elements, the Awake VINGA eFoil, and the Flex battery XR. The eFoil is a highly efficient watercraft and for the crossing, the Awake VINGA was paired with the Powder Wing 1800 for maximum range and that it allows lower speeds with high lift. The choice of wings was also due to the weight of the riders, 105 kg/231 lbs, 95 kg/209 lbs.
The Flex Battery XR (Extended Range) with excellent battery life and safety features made the ride smooth, safe and easy. The battery life lasted the 27,5 km journey and even had some extra power to swap it over to the RÄVIK S22 and go for a joyride in Copenhagen.
Even though the weather was superb with clear skies and almost no winds there are still always quite a lot of currents in the Öresund strait since it's the narrow opening from the Baltic sea to the Atlantic ocean. Combining the current with stray seaweeds and the fact that Öresund has heavy marine traffic, the crossing quickly becomes quite tricky.
Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz, Jr. does not only handle his Scuderia Ferrari F1 car, he also knows how to handle the Awake VINGA eFoil. On Carlos’s Instagram yesterday you could see him flying around on the VINGA.

In May, the Awake team decided to head down south with a bunch of boards and batteries, catch a boat and aim for the crystal blue waters of Corsica.
Of course, you can’t go to such a paradise alone, so we decided to call some friends to come ride with us and share this unforgettable journey on the Island of Beauty. And what better match to complete the equation than letting 2 passionate content creators that we met riding the past years join the trip?
Join us for carving sessions on the RÄVIK S 22, crystal clear water explorations on the VINGA, and sunset cruising on the RÄVIK 3. We had the full flexibility of riding with any board thanks to Awake’s Flex battery system - Just dependent on if the rider was in fly, cruise, or race mode. You can’t stop that feeling, which brings you back into the water again, and again!
We take you with us to discover the stunning landscapes of Corsica made from mountains, blue lagoons, archipelagoes, and the Unesco renowned white cliffs of Bonifacio.
Discover a trip made from laughter, ride sessions, exploration, cruises, and smiles that the entire team will remember for the rest of their lives.
We hope that you for an instant moment can feel that you are with us in the water and we hope you will enjoy watching the movie.
Meet the team of the trip below!

]]>Mike Zed is one of the pioneers in the Jetboard industry. He has created his youtube channel Jetsurfing Nation on which he is testing and reviewing all Jetboards and eFoils on the market.
Mike created Jetsurfing Nation with the main goal to help and guide new Jetboard riders in their purchase and also highlight the news in the industry.
He always keeps an impartial eye as he must be one of the most passionate about Jetboards, as he does not retail or promote specific brands.
After reviewing our very first RÄVIK ONE a few years ago, then the RÄVIK 3 and S last year. Now it's time for our latest board, the Awake VINGA.
]]>Should I buy a Jet board or an eFoil?
How do you make the right choice when looking to buy your next board? First, let's explore the differences between the two types of boards so that you can make an informed choice.
Jet boards travel across the water's surface propelled by an electric-powered battery. So riders are in contact with the water, directly experiencing the board's speed, power, and agility at their feet.
eFoils or Electric Hydrofoils fly above the water with no contact or friction, thanks to the hydrodynamic wing and mast. As a result, riders have a different experience; more smooth and serene.
For non-experienced riders, jet boards are more accessible. On a board like the Awake RÄVIK 3 the experience at low speeds is less intense, and the board is more forgiving of piloting errors. eFoils such as the Awake VINGA, however, might at first feel more straightforward thanks to their more serene nature, but a dip in the water soon follows any minor mistakes a rider might make.
Out in choppy water, or even in powerful and rough conditions, the jet board like the Awake RÄVIK S will have more control and offer more possibilities to perform and do tricks and jumps. While eFoils perform well in small chop and rolling swells - passing through virtually undisturbed by the water's surface.
Both jet boards and eFoil perform well when the water is flat and calm, even though each has distinctive characteristics. Jet boards like the RÄVIK S offer punchy and aggressive riding ideal for those who enjoy deep carves, speed and adrenaline. Wider and more accessible boards such as the RÄVIK 3 will allow anyone to experience a stable and easy first ride on a jet board, improving their skills step by step. Also, because jet boards have no mast beneath the water, they perform well in shallow conditions.
In contrast, an eFoil is perfect for exploring the coast or river tideways because of its smooth, languid style and can offer up to 2 hours of riding time like the Awake VINGA 3. Physically too, eFoils are less demanding, requiring a sense of balance and good overall body strength. That said you can always challenge your eFoiling skills with the VINGA S.
Ultimately, the best way to decide which board is right for you is to understand where you'll be riding the most, who you'll be riding with, and what ride style suits you best (punchy and aggressive, stable but playful or smooth and serene).
Better still have both - that way, you can go where your mood takes you.
Here is Florian Garbaccio from Awake's perspective on a Jetboard versus an eFoil.
"I don't think you can compare the two - they are two distinct ways of riding and enjoying the water. When a storm calls - wind, substantial chop, and steep waves wake me up. I grab a jet board like the RÄVIK S and have an absolute blast. The way the board reacts, the power, and the grip on the water give me the exhilaration that comes from braving the elements.
In lighter chop or rolling swell, I click my eFoil together, and I'm never disappointed. Feeling the power of the water moving below the board as I fly above the surface is the smoothest experience one can have. And in glassy and flat waters, I guess I follow my mood. Do I want to enjoy a long cruise along the coast, or do I want to carve it up until my legs burn?
Either way, it's a great feeling."

]]>For the past three years, Awake has taken the electric surfboard market by storm, positioning themselves as one of the industry’s frontrunners. Now, as part of a strategic growth-focused scale-up strategy, Adam Treschow from world-leading electrical appliance company Electrolux will join the executive team as the company’s new CEO.
After doubling their turn-over three years in a row, Swedish electric surfboard manufacturer Awake is now gearing up for the next phase on their growth journey by bringing in Adam Treschow as the company’s new CEO. Adam most recently comes from Electrolux, where he held the position as VP Consumer Experience Area Wellbeing, and brings experience both from R&D/consumer product development as well as large-scale, customer-focused, global commercialization.
Current CEO and Co-founder Daniel Aronsson is handing over the position in favor of a growth-focused scale-up strategy:
“It’s an exciting time for Awake, and I look forward to handing over the position to Adam, who will lead the company in this new scale-up phase.”, Daniel says.
Adam Treschow will join the team at Awake’s Stockholm HQ on November 1, bringing both R&D and commercialization expertise to the table.
“I look forward to working together with the founders and the rest of the team at Awake in ushering in a new era of electrification in the water sports segment. I find the focus on development, innovation, and design very appealing, and Awake is already a frontrunner in the industry, with a number of years of experience.”, Adam says.
The recruitment of Adam Treschow marks the latest in a number of executive management recruitments within the manufacturing, R&D, and commercial departments.
In addition to these recruitments, Awake recently finalized a large-scale production transfer from Limhamn, Sweden to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Szczecin, Poland. This transfer is partly to be able to cope with the exponential number of pre-orders for 2022, as well as the pending activation of the overseas markets.
]]>One of the most frequently asked questions we get is this:
Short answer: Yes.
≈ 6 min answer: Watch this video.
A common goal at the Awake office has always been to surf real waves with our boards. For one person, in particular, it has been more important. Team rider Florian "Flo" Garbaccio is a true waterman who grew up surfing on the west coast of France. He has dabbled in everything from Kite Surfing to Wake Boarding over the years, so naturally, when riding the electric boards for the first time, he knew that one day he'd be out surfing in real waves with these boards.

]]>The functionality and ease-of-use is key for a great experience on the Awake Boards, and a lot of work has gone into small, enabling details.
The deckpad is designed for stability and support. The rear deckpad shape also supports your knees when transitioning from lying down to a standing position before you accelerate away into the distance.
The custom-made foot straps have heel and toe support for maximum grip and comfort, and you can also choose if you want to ride strapless for maximum cruise/surf feeling or strap in with foot straps for total control during adrenaline-fueled rides.
The two handles make carrying and transportation easy, and with a simple press of your thumb, the wireless, 'dynamite grip' hand controller responds instantly.
]]>This week, we are talking about our modular system, which is a key factor to Awake's success. We want to get you out on the water ASAP, which is why all Awake Boards feature our patent-pending modular plug-and-play system, consisting of the board, drivetrain, and battery.
All modules are interchangeable, meaning that the same battery works in multiple boards and different models, and batteries are easy to swap out, service, and upgrade. Additionally, our boards are what we like to call 'backward compatible', meaning that if you have one of our first-generation boards, you can always upgrade with a new battery.
'Ease-of-use' is right up there together with the rest of our primary focus points; 'Performance' and 'Safety', so that you don't need to worry about anything, except where you're going to ride next!
]]>Our multilayered safety system starts and ends with the power key. The power key is used to activate the electrical system of the board, but also functions as a kill switch to immediately stop the board if you fall off. Our safety sensor system continually monitors the temperature, energy consumption, and overall condition of the board. Gyro technology monitors orientation, so if the board flips upside-down, it shuts off automatically.
Inside the Awake batteries there's a sophisticated battery management system or "BMS" which monitors the batteries to prevent overheating or cells becoming unbalanced. The BMS also observes and balances the battery cells during charging to ensure long battery life.
In conclusion, everything we create is made with safety as a primary focus.
]]>
High-performance electric vehicles will always get hot, that's a fact. For us at Awake, that means another engineering puzzle to solve.
Our patent-pending passive cooling system ensures that all components are properly cooled during the ride. As the name explains, it's a passive system which means no output power is lost trying to cool down the batteries or driveline.
Simply by letting the surrounding water into the battery compartment combined with our engine being outside the board shell, the passive cooling does its job. Even though it sounds simple, there's a ton of engineering behind the design. The system is efficient enough so that you are able to put the battery on charge directly after a ride without having to consider potential overheat.
Complex technology made simple.

]]>At Awake, innovation never sleeps. Pioneering is one of our core values and is applied to everything we do, from research and development to manufacturing and commercial efforts. During a record-breaking 2020, we launched a disruptive new model; The Awake RÄVIK S, we expanded our retailer network both east and west, and we founded our US subsidiary.
2021 is starting with more record-breaking sales numbers, new attractive price levels to reach a broader market and now we are gearing up with the launch of our third generation of electric surfboards; the Awake RÄVIK 3
Awake RÄVIK 3 comes with a revised hull design, where weight distribution, carving capabilities, and hydrodynamic performance have all been updated. Brand new tech, such as an optimized electronic speed controller (ESC), a second-generation wireless hand controller, a completely re-made brushless motor, and a new, more aggressive impeller gives way for dynamic stability and agile carving, without losing touch with the company’s award-winning Scandinavian design heritage. The patent-pending modular system ensures Awake’s signature performance, automotive/sophisticated safety systems, and ease-of-use.
With Awake RÄVIK ONE and its jaw-dropping acceleration and top speed, we took the first steps in fast-forwarding the future of action water sports back in 2018.” says Awake’s CEO Daniel Aronsson. “The awesome race-characteristics of our second model; the Awake RÄVIK S, introduced a completely new segment to the electric surfboard market, where the conventional limits of electric action sports were erased when my colleague and co-founder Philip Werner landed the first backflip on a wireless motorized surfboard.”
The Awake RÄVIK 3 is a development of the company’s two previous models, where both internal learnings and external feedback from the previous models have been used as a blueprint for the R&D teams.

Awake has kept on expanding during 2020, in spite of the hardship that this historical year brought with it. They started off with a very successful BOOT Düsseldorf 2020, launching the next step in high-precision electric surfboarding; Awake’s race model – Awake RÄVIK S.
A few weeks passed, then, almost overnight, a global lockdown was activated as a result of a global pandemic. But, as humans have shown throughout history, some of our greatest assets are perseverance, versatility, and adaptation.
Now, Awake is looking back at a record-breaking season with 100% growth both in terms of revenue and retailer network expansion, and this comes down to one simple fact; people will (and needs) to keep playing. In these difficult times, with global travel restrictions in effect, there is this great opportunity to explore the immediate surroundings, and (re)explore the adventures that can be found just around the corner.
“The name says it all; ‘Play at home’. Get out there, explore the adventures in YOUR backyard! There is something about bringing the Awake boards with a few friends and colleagues up north, getting a new perspective of the beauty that can be found right here at home.” Awake Brand Manager Gustav Kjellberg says. “So, what local spots would you bring Awake’s electric surfboard to..?”

“Design by engineering” is deeply embedded in Awake’s R&D department, and as a development company, we are always looking for new ways to enhance the offering to our clients. This is why the latest addition to our product portfolio, the custom-made Awake RÄVIK Wall Mounts are not only practical and easy to install in any house, garage or boat, but also skillfully designed to emphasize Awake’s dedication to Scandinavian design heritage.
At Awake, the ultimate user experience is enveloped in desire and satisfaction. These two ingredients are critical in how things work, the way they do what they do, and the way they look and feel. Someone who has never ridden an Awake board should think, “that’s what I want because that’s exactly how it should be” before the experience. And after the experience, they should think that’s beyond what I was hoping for
With that in our DNA, we have used excellent tools like SolidWorks and premium components like Fidlock fasteners to design and develop a wall mount to practically, securely, safely, and attractively store and display our boards. Even if you’re not riding your Awake RÄVIK, you should still be able to enjoy it.
– Brendon Vermillion, Head of Design at Awake
The Awake RÄVIK Wall Mount comes complete with an installation template, which is different depending on what model you have and if you want your board stored/displayed horizontally or vertically.
